Modernize Reverse Engineering
Modernize the reverse engineering process for industrial and manufacturing applications. By leveraging laser scanning, capturing part dimensions in 3D mesh visualizations can be completed in minutes. After capturing the dimensions, results are delivered as a .STL file or a feature-based 3D model for CAD programs such as Solidworks changes the way reverse engineering is done. Reduce lead time without sacrificing accuracy with modernized reverse engineering with R-V.

Our Two-Step Modern Reverse Engineering Process
Step 1: Scanning and Measurement Capture
The first step of the process is capturing the part measurements with 3D laser scanning. This replaces the hours-long process of calipers and tape measures. In this step R-V personnel:
- Calibrate the scanner. This is completed before each scanning session, and a calibration report is saved for accuracy tracking.
- A minimum of three (3) scans, from different angles, are captured for each part to ensure data accuracy and mesh integrity.
- A completed 3D mesh is created with the merged data from the three completed scans.
Step 2: Reverse Engineering
After the 3D Mesh is created, the reverse engineering process to a feature-based model begins:
- Mesh file imported in VX Elements for conversion to feature based models
- Depending on customer intent, we engineer model to original design intent.
- Model is exported to CAD-based model with features and modification capabilities intact.
- For quality control applications, deviation reports validate the measurements of all critical dimensions by comparing scanned data to part design geometry.
